Note: This feature is only available for Premium and Enterprise accounts and can only be accessed by users with Admin, Creator, or Designer permission levels. It is not enabled by default. What is the AI Message Drafting Tool?

ThankView’s AI Message Drafting tool is designed to take the guesswork out of crafting personalized campaign messaging! By using a custom prompt system, you can generate tailored content that directly integrates into your campaign’s email and landing page messaging sections, streamlining the campaign-building process and reducing the time it takes to get your campaign up and running.

This feature will help you transform your team’s messaging ideas into unique, personalized content without the hassle of starting from scratch every time. With the AI Message Drafting tool, you can create dynamic, original messages that resonate with your campaign’s audience. Additionally, the tool has been programmed to be polite and respectful, meaning it may refuse to provide a response if it crosses a line of appropriateness. This ensures that the messages created maintain a friendly and professional tone.

Below, we will walk through how to use this tool to draft both an email and landing page message. Let’s dive in!

💡 Note:

  • The AI Message Drafting tool uses a large language model (LLM) from OpenAI. Your data is never used to train the model, and any information processed is purged within 30 days. Additionally, since the tool does not store prompt inputs, your data is removed from the ThankView platform after submission.
  • This tool is a new ThankView feature. If you have feedback as you use it, please share this with your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or reach out to support@thankview.com.

Drafting an Email Message

Step 1. Open a Campaign’s Message Step

Start by opening either a new or existing campaign and navigating to the Message step. If you need a refresher on how to build a campaign from scratch, check out our collection of Building Campaigns resources

Step 2. Open the AI Message Drafting Tool

Scroll to the Add Message section within the Message step. In the upper-right corner of the Email Message text box, you’ll find an AI Message Drafting button. Click this button to open the tool’s prompt builder.

💡 Note: The AI Message Drafting tool will replace any existing text you’ve added to the Email Message text box. To use your own text alongside the AI-generated draft, we recommend using the tool first. Once the AI draft populates, you can then add any additional messaging!

Once opened, you can reposition the prompt builder on your screen as needed. To do this, click anywhere within the top-half of the builder, then drag and drop to your preferred location!

Step 3. Add Your Prompt

Next, add your prompt to the builder’s text box. For example, you might input:

Create an enthusiastic thank you message to a donor who donated at the ThankView Giving event. Thank them, and let them know how much we appreciate their support. Use merge fields where appropriate to indicate where I can personalize the message after it is drafted.

If your prompt exceeds the viewable space in the text box, you can expand the builder by dragging the resize handle in the bottom-right corner.

💡 Note:

  • If you want your email message to be a certain length, just mention it in your prompt! For example, you could say, “keep this message under 300 characters,” or “I need the message to be 3 sentences long.”
  • For additional email message prompt inspiration, check out our best practices guide!

Step 4. Generate an AI Draft

After adding your prompt, press Enter on your keyboard or click the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the builder to generate an AI draft. While the draft is processing, a loading icon will appear in your Email Message text box. If you need to stop the draft from processing for any reason, click the stop button located in the bottom-right corner of the text box.

When processing is complete, the AI-generated draft will automatically appear in your Email Message text box!

💡 Note:

  • Depending on the prompt, your draft might include a suggested subject line that you can copy and paste in the Message step’s Subject Line field if you’d like to use it! Don’t want a subject line to populate in the draft? Simply specify this in your prompt! For example, you could write “Create an enthusiastic thank you message for a donor, but don’t include a subject line.
  • Exact processing time can vary depending on the complexity of the prompt entered. Typically, a draft will populate in under 10 seconds.

Step 5. Edit and Save Your Email Message

Now it’s time to add additional personalization to your email copy! Once your draft populates, take a moment to review the text and make any necessary changes. You’ll notice certain text in the email body is bracketed–these brackets indicate elements that need editing, often corresponding with ThankView’s standard merge fields. Be sure to adjust this text when you see it, and replace it with the appropriate merge field when available!

💡 Note: We recommend using your prompt to request personalization merge fields be used! You can even specify which merge fields you’d like to be included in the draft.

If you’d like to regenerate the draft using the same prompt, click the refresh button in the bottom-right corner of the Email Message text box. A new draft will be processed and generated, ready for your review and edits!

💡 Note: Once a prompt is added, it cannot be edited. If you want to adjust your original prompt, click the AI Message Drafting button again and re-add your original prompt with any changes you want to make.

When you’re ready, click Save in the bottom-right corner of this step before building out the remainder of your campaign!

Emphasize the impact of their donation by highlighting the total amount raised and outlining ThankView's plans for using these funds. Include a call-to-action link that, when clicked, offers more detailed insights into the results of the recent giving event. The tone should be warm and friendly.
