Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
Using the Blackbaud RE NXT integration, you can add contacts to a ThankView campaign, list, or send a video with Blackbaud workflows and track the results. The integration may take 15-30 minutes to set up.
Setting Up the Integration
- As an admin in Raiser's Edge NXT, navigate to the NXT Marketplace.
- At the top, click Manage.
- Click Connect App and enter our application ID, which is 4fab0ec4-c1df-44cc-9853-19a1f94d8345.
- Log into your ThankView portal > Integrations.
- Navigate to the Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT box and click Connect+.
- Log into your NXT account to connect the systems.
- Once successful, you will see the status Connected for the Blackbaud NXT integration.

Error Messages and Fixes

1. Connection Expired or Authentication Invalid
The Problem: Your Blackbaud authorization has either expired or been revoked. This is the most common error and usually occurs if the connection hasn't been "refreshed" by the system in a while.
How to Fix:
Navigate to ThankView → Integrations & APIs.
Locate the error banner at the top of the page and click Reconnect.
Sign in with your Blackbaud credentials and click Authorize.
Note: If this error reappears within a few hours of reconnecting, please ask your Blackbaud Admin to verify that your account is still active and that your API permissions haven't been modified.
2. "The authorizing user lacks the necessary permissions"
The Problem: The specific Blackbaud account used to link ThankView to NXT does not have high enough access levels to pull the required data.
Required Permissions: To function correctly, the connecting user must have Read Access for the following:
Constituents, Gifts, Actions, and Notes.
Fund, Appeal, and Campaign lists.
How to Fix:
Identify the original connector: Determine which user first linked the integration (it may not be you).
Verify in Blackbaud: Go to Control Panel → Security → Application Users and check that user's permissions against the list above.
Change the connecting user (If needed): If the original user has left the organization or changed roles:
In ThankView, Disconnect the current integration.
Have a new user with the correct permissions log in and Reconnect/Authorize.
3. "Unable to load some NXT settings"
The Problem: ThankView is trying to pull your specific Action Types or Note Types from Blackbaud but is being blocked. This is almost always a permissions issue.
How to Fix:
Follow the steps in the Permissions section above.
Specifically ensure the user has "Read" access to Actions and Notes.
Once permissions are updated in Blackbaud, return to the Integrations & APIs section in ThankView; your settings should reload automatically.
4. "Raiser’s Edge NXT is experiencing a temporary issue"
The Problem: Blackbaud’s servers are temporarily down or undergoing maintenance. This is an external issue and not a bug within ThankView.
How to Fix:
Wait: Give it 15–30 minutes and refresh your page.
Check Status: Visit status.blackbaud.com to see if there is a known service outage.
Reset: If the issue lasts longer than 24 hours, try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.

Create a ThankView workflow after a gift is added in NXT
Note: Workflows can only be triggered by new gifts and can be further filtered by gift amount.
- On the Integrations page, toggle on Create a ThankView workflow after a gift is added in NXT and click Update.
- Determine which constituent fields from NXT you want to pull into ThankView. When a gift is added, we can then create a contact in ThankView with only the data you want us to pull in. When populating the Donor ID field in ThankView, use the Constituent ID from Raiser's Edge NXT (not the System Record ID).
- You can create multiple workflows based on the gift amount.
Workflows
- Add to campaign adds the constituent into a ThankView campaign
- Add to list adds the constituent into a ThankView list
- Attach video adds the constituent to a ThankView campaign and attaches a video to the constituent
- Send video adds the constituent to a ThankView campaign and sends a video to the constituent immediately
Track ThankViews as an Action in NXT
- On the Integrations page, toggle on Track ThankViews as an actions in NXT and click Update.
- Actions will be created in NXT within 30-60 minutes of sending ThankViews.

Custom Fields
ThankView engagement data can also be tracked using custom fields. Custom fields can only be added through the Database View. Visit Blackbaud to learn how to create attributes.
Please create the following Action Custom Fields so that we can start pushing engagement data into your CRM:
- ThankView Opened
- ThankView Viewed
- ThankView Reply
- ThankView Finished
- ThankView CTA Clicked

Create a note in NXT when a ThankView reply is received
Replies can be tracked as a custom field in your actions, but they can also be tracked as a note in your constituent records.
- On the Integrations page, toggle on Create a note in NXT when a ThankView reply is received and click Update.
- Select the Note Type.

Disconnection of Integration Token
If the integration token becomes disconnected, you will get a notification if you are a ThankView Admin. You will be able to reconnect your integration directly from that notification. This reconnection will also trigger a sync, sending actions that were missed because of the disconnection back to your CRM for the past 90 days.
