Sending from a Custom Email Address (Configuring DNS)

ATTN: ThankView has sunset the Sender Signature option following the release of new anti-spam requirements, DNS is your only option.

So, you want to send from a custom email address? Understandable, it's important for recipient to see a familiar name in your inbox, increasing their likelihood of engagement. The process of setting this up is called DNS, and you're going to want to grab a friend in IT or Site Admin to help you out. Just make sure they have access to the provider where your domain is hosted and permissions to update records.

Custom Emails are available for Starter, Pro, and Premium clients. Adding multiple custom email addresses is an option for Pro and Premium clients.

Configuring DNS in ThankView

  • Setting up a DNS enables you to send from any @yourdomain.com email address in your campaigns. This improves deliverability, reduces the chance of emails landing in spam, and keeps your branding consistent. Without setting up an internal email address, all emails from your ThankView portal will be sent from hello@thankview.com.

The steps are as follows:

  • Come prepared with your organization's name and the default email you wish to send your ThankViews from.

  • Reach out to support@thankview.com with that information.

  • Our team will generate a page of numerical codes that are specific to your portal. Pass this to your IT/Admin and they will attach the records to your domain.

  • Wait for verification (can take up to 48 hours) and then test the connection by sending yourself a ThankView.

Important:

  • IT Team assistance and access to your domain hosting site is required for the DNS set up.

  • Setting up DNS handles the creation of a DKIM record and Return Path (CNAME) to align with Gmail and Yahoo's anti-spam requirements

  • The primary email address you provide becomes the default, but you can manually set this to any other email address that matches your domain on each campaign.

  • Make sure to advise your IT team to copy and paste the values exactly and double check for any extra spaces (these can cause the DNS to not appear correctly).

What if my IT says we can’t add anymore records to our domain?

  • You can set up a sub domain

    • Subdomain: A prefix added to your primary domain name (ie instead of hello@thankview.com, you would use something like hello@thanks.thankview.com)

  • If your organization needs to set up a subdomain, it is important that it only has 1 subdomain. (ie hello@thanks.schoolname.thankview.com is not valid)

Notes about DNS

  • IT Team assistance and access to domain hosting site is required.
  • Without setting up an internal email address, all emails from your ThankView portal will send from hello@thankview.com.
  • You also must include Return Path record.
  • Full DNS means we are asking you to add a DNS record to your domain.
  • The primary email address you provide becomes the default, but you can manually set this to any email address @yourdomain; email addresses you’re sending from don’t actually have to exist.

Allowing ThankView IP Addresses

Allowing ThankView’s IP addresses is highly recommended. By setting up approved IP addresses, also known as IP whitelisting or allowlisting, your organization is creating a list of trusted IP addresses that are permitted to access your network, servers, applications, or other digital resources. If tests are not going through, or your ThankViews are going to spam even after setting these up, you will need to allow our IP addresses:

  • @thankview.com

    @emails-txn1.thankview.com

    @emails-txn2.thankview.com

    @emails-txn3.thankview.com

    @emails1.thankview.com

    @emails2.thankview.com

    @emails3.thankview.com

    @emails4.thankview.com

    @emails5.thankview.com

Outbound IP Addresses

  • 50.31.156.96/27 (50.31.156.96 - 127)

  • 104.245.209.192/26 (104.245.209.192 - 255)

  • 50.31.205.0/24 (50.31.205.1 - 255)
